With the development of the technology of the embedded system, more and more embedded products permeate through our lives, embedded products has displayed a significant market value and application prospect. With the use of advanced embedded technology, 802.11b WLAN wireless communication technology, as well as technology such as touch-screen, the Order Dishes System which based on the wireless LAN provided a complete solution for the catering industry moving toward a fully digitized.Relying on this study of Changhong Intelligent restaurant, we developed the Order Dishes System which based on open-source software. The Order Dishes System consists of three components: the server of the Order Dishes System, the client of the Order Dishes System and the kitchen display. The development of client of the Order Dishes System is as priority task to give a description. The Guangzhou Stora S3C2410 ARM development board is the underlying hardware of the client. The client of the Order Dishes System connects the server by using a USB wireless NIC, using Linux as an embedded operating system software platform and miniGUI as the graphical user interface support system, programing application code with language C, achieving a series of functions such as order dishes, add dishes, settle accounts. The server of the Order Dishes System will be used for editing and saving the name, the discription and the picture of the dishes. It's work is receiving the data from the client, sending informations to the kitchen display to show, receiving the information of settle accounts from the client, printing consumer lists and invoices.In this paper, the function and the Realization of the client of the Order Dishes System is given a detailed description, including: the design of the Order Dishes System and the embedded linux-based software platform, the migration of linux operating system, the migration and debugging of the driver for the wireless communication module that is external USB wireless NIC, the migration of miniGUI, the debugging and positioning of the resistive touch screen-driver which based on miniGUI, the development of interface program.
