Recently, with the development of computer technology communication technology and network technology, embedded systems are running around us everywhere. The main tasks of this paper include: the research and porting implementation of embedded Linux and MiniGUI based on ARM.In all of embedded operation systems, the development of Linux operation system is the most rapid and extensive. Running Linux embedded operation system seems to be the one of the most promising emerging projects. In this paper, ARM architecture and the characteristic application of embedded Linux operation system are analyzed in detail. The emphasis of the study is put on the porting techniques of embedded Linux operation system based on the ARM9 micro processor, which include setting cross complier by the means of "bash shell" script porting Bootloader porting embedded Linux kernel and setting root file system;furthermore, the technique of porting Embedded Linux to FS9315 board based on Cirrus Logic EP9315 embedded processor is introduced in this paper.GUI (Graphical User Interfaces) systems which are supported by normal PCs can not run well on the embedded systems, just because of the restriction of embedded devices' hardwares. After making comparisons with some mature Linux GUI embedded systems, I select MiniGUI as my research object at last. MiniGUI, which is initiated by Wei Yongming of Tsinghua University, aims to provide a lightweight GUI support system for realtime embedded systems such as embedded Linux. Based on the MiniGUI architecture and its other aspects, the technique of porting MiniGUI to FS9315 board is. given in detail.
