The need of the embedded system for lightness, quicker response and high reliability GUI systems is urgent. Such as set-top boxes, vehicle navigation systems and so on, they need support with a user-friendly interface and facilitating human-computer interaction GUI system. It seems to be a good solution on the embedded system that running Linux in the embedded operating system with a GUI system. In the analysis of existing systems based on embedded GUI, and referencing desktop GUI systems technology and the advantages, this article does in-depth study for architecture and some technology of MiniGUI. The GUI system will be used in vehicle navigation systems. The analysis of electronics map and extracting the data are major parts of electronical map, and the foundations of displaying geography information quickly and correctly. Currently, the common analysis library of electronics map can't satisfy the request of vehicle navigation system, so need develop a map display engine. With the deep research on data element of the electronics map, the paper will do best to introduce the methods of extracting map data and the key technique involved in the map analysis procedure design, and achieve a digital map library to analysis MIF format map. And then the paper introduce current algorithm point and crux problem of displaying the electronics map, and resolve the basic problems in the electronics map. And then this paper achieve the design of GUI in the Linux system based on MiniGUI, and solution the coordinate conversion of the electronics map, manifestation problem for the landmark and so on.At first, the thesis outlines the history of embedded systems and user interface, and then we compare several GUI systems under embedded systems, point out the peculiarity of GUI on embedded systems, that is, lightness, less resource requirement, quicker response, high reliability and easy configuration. In chapter 2, we introduce typical system MiniGUI. In chapter 3, the paper designed a share library which may analyze Mapinfo format map data. The library use a fat lot of memory, and it is very fit to use in the embedded system. And it can read vector map data instead of GDAL/OGR library. In chapter 4, the key problems and solutions in the development process were described in detail.
