Radar Signal Simulator with its radar performance testing, commissioning, maintenance important role,is gaining more and more recognition. It is important to reduce system development's cost, and is an effective means to test the radar equipment. It has become an important branch of radar technology, the development of various radar signal simulator is necessary. This thesis designs a low-cost, portable, scalable C-band pulse modulation radar signal simulator. It is more economical, highly reliable, and easy to operate. In-depth study of the radar system and radar signal simulation based on the principle of combining the specific target requirements of radar simulator, a single chip produced using pulse code modulation carrier signal of the program, using digital PLL,frequency technology, pulse power amplifier technology to complete the entire simulator design. In the first part of the paper we introduce the radar system and radar signal simulation theory and a detailed analysis of phase-locked microwave frequency synthesis and frequency doubling technology, and combined with pulse radar target simulator design examples, the main function of the simulator modules and software components designed, and testing systems and testing process were analyzed. Test results show that the simulator can simulate the C-band radar pulse modulation parameters, parameter changes easy and flexible software design to achieve the original design requirementsThe thesis for the radar signal simulation in small, low-cost, operational aspects, with some reference value. Microcomputer-based signal generator is designed based on user needs, facilitate the flexibility to set the parameters and can be upgraded and expanded.
