Research On Ding Baochen's National Modernization Idea And Practice

The status and role of Ding Baochen,a newspaper reporter of Hui nationality in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of my country,in the history of news communication in our country,especially in the history of news communication of ethnic minorities,faced a problem of re-understanding and re-evaluation.The study of Ding Baochen promoted by domestic scholar Zhang Juling is still in its infancy,and the Authentic Patriotic Newspaper founded by Ding Baochen usually only appears in the relevant research as the "first modern Hui newspaper".The historical position of Ding Baochen's early pioneers in national modernization was disproportionate.This paper facilitates the research of Ding Baochen's national modernization idea and practice of "protecting religion and nation,persisting democracy and science" on the Hui nationality in the late Qing Dynasty by means of content analysis.The creation of Ding Baochen's newspapers before the creation of the newspaper began around the end of the Qing dynasty "preparation for constitution".The constitutional government that the Qing government was forced to pursue for self-protection objectively promoted the liberalization of the social atmosphere and the loosening of the people's speech and ban,which in turn promoted the emergence of the second climax in the Chinese press history.Founded as the important practice position and achievement of Ding Baochen's national modernization,the Authentic Patriotic News was established in the third month after the implementation of the New Deal in the late Qing Dynasty.Before the imaginary communities such as the "Chinese Nation" and the "Five Ethnic Republics" had become the consensus of Chinese society at that time,Ding Baochen was influenced by the modern state consciousness and Islamic modernist ideology that began to be introduced to China during the Reform and Reform period,and produced a unique nation Modernization concept.This modernization concept promoted his advocacy of ideological emancipation and modern education for the Hui people in the newspapers,and also promoted his patriotic modernization practice of establishing the Authentic Patriotic News.The newspaper also provided space and observation objects for the phased development of its modern concept.In this way,Ding Baochen's idea of national modernization has formed an interactive relationship with the national modernization event that he founded newspapers and periodicals.After researching the interactive relationship between Ding Baochen's national modernization ideas and practices by combining two historical research orientations: "historical newspapers" and "history of newspapers ",this article argues that: 1.The concept and practice of Ding Baochen's national modernization is of great significance to the development of modern Chinese journalism and communication,especially the development of Hui's journalism and communication,which has gone beyond the scope of "founding the first Hui newspaper";2.Ding Baochen's national modernization concept of "protecting religion and nation,persisting democracy and science" has pioneering significance for the Hui New Culture Movement,the modern Chinese new culture movement,and the May 4th Movement.
