Barack Obama is the first U.S. president who visit China in the first year of his term. As the new head of the world's only superpower, Obama's move is considered a symbol of his global strategy "return to Asia". Since the whole world deeply trapped in financial crisis yet China rapidly rising, the world's media were all turning their concentration on Obama's visit to China, while for researchers, what attacted more were the different descriptions by media and deep meanings behind their reports.This paper takes People's Daily, Oriental Morning Post and the New York Times as the objects and their reports on Obama's visit to China as samples, to carry on content and discourse analysis, including basic statistics of length, layout, news type, article originator and main source of reports, and frame analysis statistics such as "event frame", "character frame" and "meaning frame", based on frame theory. By comparing the reports on the same topic of these three newpapers to find whether there are any differences, especially differences under the same frame, thus to discuss the hidden media truth in reports.Statistics of "event frame", "character frame" and "meaning frame" in this paper are confirmative to certain degrees. Frames of the People's Daily turn more likely to be positive and pay more attention to macro issues while frames of the Oriental Morning Post are more likely to be neutral, with a little positive tendency, but the broader issues of concern. Frames of New York Times are mainly neutral, but most of its Chinese image descriptions are nagetive. As a result, combined with the summarized macro- propositions of the newspapers' reports, this study finds there are clear differences between the three newspapers' media images about Obama's visit to China, in which the People's Daily describes the event as "friendly visits between big powers which will strengthen their close cooperation", and the Oriental Morning Post as "Obama's visit to China meets the expectations of all nations and a correct understanding of the cooperations and differences between the two is conducive to better long-term relationships", and the New York Times as "Obama's visit shows the recognition of the importance of China, but a remained cautious and not open China makes the visit fruitless."...
