| Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), developed by Roger Fowler and Gunther Kress, etc. in the late 1970s, seeks to reveal the relationship between language and ideology which is hidden in public discourses from the perspectives of linguistics, sociology, psychology and mass communication.The present study, adopting critical discourse analysis as its theoretical framework and analytic approach, makes ideological analysis of Thai Newspapers'economic news on China. The author analyzes these economic news from 11 newspapers such as POST TODAY, BUSINESS THAI, THAI POST, etc. and linguistic strategies in order to uncover the hidden ideological tendency in the Thai Newspapers'economic news on China. The research reveals that Thai Newspapers employs the linguistic strategies, constructing a distorted image of China.This thesis will help us take a correct attitude towards the Thai media and promote their critical awareness. It also sheds light on improving the international trade of China. |
