| The research method of Critical Discourse Analysis is applied extensively in studying English news discourse in which the sense of ideology is unveiled through CDA.Guided by CDA,this thesis brings Appraisal System initiated by Prof.Martin into discourse analysis as an analytical tool.From linguistic aspect,the investigation is systematically expanded to settle whether the political ideology is hidden in American reports on China concerning non-politics as those political ones.The database comes from three U.S.authoritative printed presses,New York Times,The Washington Post,and Time.In conclusion,on one hand,the thesis indicates capitalist political ideology can also be figured out in non-political reports:on the other hand.it enlightens readers ought to take sensible reading and home press ought to strengthen publicity on China's performance and development. |
