The feature of modern social practice is the common of discourse practice. The production, consultation and battles of social conscious are based on the production of discourse. Mass media describe the real world and construct audience cognition. Back of discourses practice is the struggle for power, for the social interpretation, for the interest of the real world. In this study, I selected three main newspapers and took their reports on the South China Sea dispute in one year as the text of study. Discourse analysis is the research method. In Chapter 2, I try to sort of the report differences between the T. W. Strait by analyzing the report contents, the report number, topic distribution, agenda setting etc. In Chapter 3,I use the "news schema" critical discourse from Van Dijk to analyze ideology behind media reports from the dimensions of text and context. In Chapter 4,on the basis of discourse analysis,I try to analyse the interaction between media discourse and identity. The fifth chapter is the findings and discussings.I found that the newspapers operate the power of ideology through the title, nominalization, metaphor, word selecting, construction of news events and other hidden techniques. With the verbal reaction, news evaluation, intertextuality other means to achieve the power of discourse declaration. News discourse construct and strengthen the identity of the people across the Taiwan Strait, distinct the selves and the others, And the discourse debate expanded of cross-strait identity differences.
