Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) with the ability of reconfiguration is superior in circuit debugging and reconfigurable computing compared to Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC). However, with the increasing scale of FPGAs, configuration time is increasingly becoming a concern. Moreover, the SRAM based FPGAs are easily affected by single event upsets. Therefore, many researches have studied techniques to reduce the configuration time and to strengthen anti-radiation function. In this paper, a fast configuration architecture of FPGA suitable for fast configuration and reconfiguration is proposed and implemented for FDP2009-II-SOPC FPGA (FDP2009-II-SOPC:Fudan Programmable device 2009-II-SOPC). This architecture makes a 32-bit memory cell of FPGA addressable compared to the conventional configuration architecture. The fast configuration architecture could make configuration bitstream smaller and shorten the configuration time of system. FDP2009-II-SOPC FPGA is manufactured with SMIC 0.13μm CMOS process. The die size of FDP2009-II-SOPC FPGA is 4.5 mmx6.3 mm and the area of this configuration circuit is 1.7 mm2. The result of testing shows that this fast configuration architecture could work correctly and efficiently and reduce the configuration time.Taking the advantage of fine grain reconfiguration ability, we develop six anti-radiation circuits with different architecture based on cyclic redundancy check and error checking and correcting. In addition to that, we use fault injection and the Monte Carlo method to simulate the single event upsets caused by cosmic radiation. Then we study the area cost, time delay and power efficiency of these six anti-radiation circuits and reach the optimal method.
