Color night vision technique gains false color images close to natural images using the differences and complementary characters from different images obtained by different sensors, it can improve the quality of the output-image produced by the night vision system effectively, and it can also enhance the target identification ability obviously. Color night vision technique is one of the pivotal techniques which are current developing emphases in the military field all over the world. On the base of the analyses of the existing color night vision technologies, such as LLL and visible light dual-channel system, LLL and infrared light dual-channel system and dual-band LLL single-channel system, a color night vision technique based on the LLL and infrared light dual-channel triple-band system is put forward in the paper. The new system can accomplish the color fusion based on the combination of the image characteristics obtained from the three spectrum wavebands:the infrared light waveband, the shortwave and L-wave LLL wavebands.This paper makes researches on the acquisition and preprocessing of the infrared images and the LLL images, mainly related to the image enhancement technology. This paper analyses how to obtain dual-band LLL images by raster filter. This paper puts forward a new separation and compensation method on dual-spectrum LLL image based on threshold segmentation and normalized calibration. The paper analyses and makes experiments on the existing algorithms to realize fusion and color night vision of LLL images and infrared images. After the researches on the former algorithms, this paper analyses a false color image fusion method based on the RGB space, and the output false color image is amended by the Toet method. Using the new dual-channel triple-band system,many experiments are carried out to verify the algorithms and some good experimental results are achieved.
