In this dissertation, on the basis of the analysis on the imaging characteristics of the low light level TV system and the theory of dual-band detection of low light level, a technique of single channel dual-band low light level fusion color night vision system is investigated. A color night vision scheme to realize the collection of dual-band information with a single camera is introduced and its feasibility is demonstrated. As to the fusion algorithms of the dual-band low light level images, application of former fusion algorithms in processing dual-spectrum low light level images are systematically discussed. Moreover, several improved fusion algorithms and new algorithms are put forward which have better performance in either processing speed or processing effect. Based on the DSP hardware platform, the software programs are designed and the real-time processing of the algorithms is realized. Using the dual-band low light level night vision experiment system, many field experiments are carried out to verify the algorithms and some good experimental results are achieved.
