Coke is the major source of energy in steel smelting, and improving the quality and yield of coke has great significance for steel metallurgy. However, coke production process is complicated and the production environment is very bad, which leads that the automation level of coke production in China is not high and a series of automations are hard to achieve. Wireless communication network which can provide high-bandwidth wireless data link and data transmission is a flexible network and easy to installing, maintaining and using. Based on the features the wireless communication technology which is used to the process of coke production has aroused widespread attention in industrial and academic.In order to handle the problem that low level of automation, incomplete information and low reliability in steel enterprise coke production process, this paper designs a wireless network control system for coke production process. Also a wireless experimental platform is developed. The main work in this paper is carried out as follow.(1) After analyzing the functional requirements of system, this paper puts forward the basic realization of the program and designs the system network architecture and data flow. Based on the analysis and design the wireless module used in this system is determined.(2) Based on the idea of asynchronous time division multiplexing, the point-to-multipoint star system is converted to a number of point-to-point systems. Also, the system communication protocol, software control flow for both host-station and sub-station and polling access mechanism of host-station is designed.(3) This paper puts forward the idea of building a local OPC server on host-station and develops KEPware.KEPServerEx.V4 based on KEPware OPC server. The data of wireless module is sent to local OPC server by OPC Client. (4) A wireless experimental platform is developed in this paper. In the experimental platform, serial communication program, OPC client and asynchronous time division multiplexing communication control program are developed based on VC++6.0.By testing of point-to-multipoint data transmission and analyzing bit error on the experimental platform, the actual running result shows that wireless network control system can come true point-to-multipoint wireless communication. The system is stable and reliable and the error rate is low.
