The I-news, the fifth generation media, has come into the daily life within just five years since its creation in 2004. As a result of its remarkable role in process of broadcasting May-12 Wenchuan Earthquake and Beijing Olympiad, I-news made great breakthrough in contents, operations, formations and operations. Along with 3rd generation mobile licensed at the beginning of 2009, I-news is enjoying a boom.As a new form of media, I-news unnecessarily follows mass media development routine. At the same time, inevitably it, as an up-dated technique, is also faced with some troubles. This article attempts to explore its essential features, problems in operation and future trend.Among totally five parts, Chapter One introduces I-news creation and status quo including the setting and the present development both in the world and in China. Chapter Two argues communicative models and characteristics in the facet of communication study. Chapter Three involves four bottlenecks of I- news development, ie. inexplicit in authority, monotonous in contents, less promising in profit and the stereotype in governing. In Chapter Four, some I-news prospects is foreseen. A goal of publication through mobile phone is likely to be achieved in the future as a new growth engine. The last part weighs some of the aspects facing efforts to improve policy preference, consumption identity and sound operation and argues that there is still a long way to go for I-news.
