Information is digitalized more thanks to the rapid development of computer network. The traditional storage systems no longer meet the vast storage ability needs with high reliability, good expandability and security. Accordingly, SAN (Storage Area Network), which satisfies all these requires, are proposed. SAN brings new requirement for the corresponding software. As to this kind of software, replication/disaster tolerance module is one of the most important components.The technology of network mass storage, disaster tolerance and disaster recovery, disaster tolerant system designing, are analysed in this dissertation. Reliable ocean storage architecture, based on SAN (storage Area Network) was proposed through the research above. The design thought of high reliable, high flexible, and the implementation of each sub-module are also introduced.The remote mirror system is designed on the structure refered above,. the modular structure and the implementation of remote mirror system are described in detail; the process of user command and I/O of synchronizing remote mirror and asynchronizing remote mirror are analysed too; the key points of remote mirror, including data backup strategies, backup time strategies, backup types, etc. are introduced as well; the topography of remote mirror disaster tolerance solution, and the process of synchronizing remote mirror and asynchronizing remote mirror are also proposed.The author took part in the development of the mass storage system, and work as a project leader of the remote mirror module. During the devolopment of this system, the author took part in the feasible analysis, requirement analysis, high level design, low level design, coding, unit testing, integration testing, system testing, build block increment testing, and other relative activities. A lot of core technologies are researched and implemented by the author.The break point of this dissertation could be embodied in the following several respects:(1)To acquire the high reliability, The double controller structure was propose. With this structure, the system can run normally even when one controller crashed, for that the peer controller can substitute it.(2)To extend the limitation of storage capacity and satisfy the mass storage requirement, raid and other virtual storage technology was applied in this system;(3) The core technologies of remote mirror system are researched in this dissertation, thanks to which, a remote mirror system, with real-time backup function was development.
