Disaster Recovery is a recovery process that use certain technologies ,management tools and related resources to ensure critical data, critical processing systems and critical business systems can be resumed after disaster occurred. This company is one of world's largest electronic component distributors, their daily operations are all based on varies of application software platforms with network support. It has strict requirements on business continuity, data integrity and uninterrupted system running. This company has been established a disaster response plan, but this plan can only meet minimum needs, when large-scale disaster such as large fire occurs, it can only ensure the security of previous backup data, since that backup all new data is lost, and all application systems are unable to use, it might cause massive monetary loss.According to this company's requirements, we propose and design an internet-based disaster recovery systems after carefully analysis the various storage and backup techniques, this system contains the following 4 sub-systems: 1)Remote mirroring system, this sub-system can accomplish remote data backup, avoid data loss in large-scale disasters; 2)Local mirroring system, synchronous local data to increase system availability and prevent data loss which caused by server fail; 3)IP tunnels, IP tunnels provide secure communication channels for remote mirroring system; 4)Firewalls which protect attack data center from internet. This paper describes the design and implementation of the first phase of the project including remote mirroring systems, IP tunnels and firewalls, describes the synchronization algorithm of remote data mirroring and the implementation of remote data mirroring system. This remote data mirroring system has 3 modules: file monitor module, remote file mirror module and system configuration module. We achieved remote data mirroring function, data recovery function and system configuration function. These functions integrated IP tunnels, firewall and IDS systems: IP tunnels provide safe and reliable data transmission; firewall and IDS ensure the security of data center. This system also has independent intellectual property rights, following the provisions of the relevant national departments. It is a tailored system to this company, with performance optimization, complete set of functions, strong security features, user-friendly interface. It can prevent attacks and provide high-level disaster recovery services.Establish a disaster recovery system through internet greatly reduce the cost of the project compare with other methods, achieve remote mirroring system in low-bandwidth, high latency environment, only transfer inconsistent part of data between the two remote places thereby significantly reducing the amount of data transmission, shortening the transmit time required for data synchronization between two remote places.
