Equipment Tacan Signal Simulator Design

Tactical Air Navigation System (TACAN) is designed for ship-based, mobile station,which is developed for the use of military tactical navigation. This system is a kind of polar positioning system consists of mutual assorted ground beacon stations and airborne TACAN equipment. At present, the main military aircraft in the world are equipped with this device, which would be serving for a long time as one of essential navigation system.In this paper, the author first made introduction on how the topic stemmed from and the meaning of the topic. Author raised the task and object for the topic. According to the requirement of this design, author analyzed the structure of hardware design, proposed the design principle of TACAN signal simulator basing on Filed Programm- able Logic Device and put forward the scheme of design in detail. Then according to the focus and difficulties in design, this paper expatiated the analog circuit design and corresponding digital control logic of Carrier Generation Unit, Envelope Generation Unit, Pulse Generation Unit. Meanwhile, the Amplitude Modulation, On-Off Keying digital modulation and the synchronization technology between pulse and the phase of envelope were particularly described. In addition, the communication between computer and signal simulator were also involved in discussing. The software, which was closely related with the hardware, was also brief introduction in the paper. At the end of the paper, author described the whole system debug, and summarizes the problems as well as problem-solving in the debugging.This device could generate TACAN simulation signals. According to the results of test, the signal simulator can meet the requirements of test, maintenance and examination for airborne TACAN equipment and this signal simulator has come into service.
