In imformatization war, the army must acclimatize themselves to the complicated battlefield electromagnetic environment well to improve their battle effectiveness. Only being trained under the complicated battfield electromagnetic environment, the army can enhance their viabilities. Nowadays, there are more and more methods to simulate the battlefield electromagnetic environment with the development of electronic technique. Using signal simulator to generate genuine battlefield electromagnetic signals has attracted attention of many countries. The development of high performance signal processing chips like FPGA offers technical support for the generating of complicated battlefield electromagnetic signals. In this paper, we use digital method to design the multimode signal generator and simulate battlefield electromagnetic signals with all kinds of high performance chips.First, the whole hadware platform structure,working flow of function modules in the platform and the design of the frame structure of data transferred between control and application layer are introdeced.Second, the signal generation scheme based on the hardware platform is presented, which can generate multimode signals.Finally, several signal generating methods based on hardware platform are analyzed, and the design scheme which was carried out successfully on FPGA is presented.
