| With the development of related technology in computer and wirelss communication, application of multimedia in mobile field has been focused on and changed from wire to wireless in order to satisfy people in all aspects. On the other hand, it is known that the Symbian OS powers the world's most popular smartphones. Because the multimedia applications for the cell phone is very complicated, there hasn't a good universal platform yet for the development of multimedia applications, and it makes the development period be longer. So, a project is proposed to implement a plat of mobile multimedia based on the Symbian OS.In this thesis, the author firstly researches the the mobile multimedia technologies and the Symbian MMF. According to the research, a mobile multimedia software platform based on the Symbian OS has been designed and implement. Secondly, we have designed a multimedia application based on the platform named"bookman". At 1ast,some suggestion are proposed for the future works.In general,the fllowing work has been fulfilled in this paper:1. According to the inherent characteristcs of wireless and the constraints of smart devices, the system's architecture is designed as Client/Server model. We mainly focused on the client part. The client is divided by four parts.We discussed thoroughly the GUI module, the audio player module, the storage module and the communication module.2. A Streaming madia player has been developed based on Symbian MMF, which can decode MP3 and AMR. In addition, the player is able to forward, back,pause, and adjust the sound volume.3. On the basis of analyzing the communications of client and server, the appropriate communication mechanism, protocols are disgned. Moreover, object's internalize and externalize have applied on the platform. It lightens the congestion of network.4. We have designed a multimedia application named"bookman"based on the platform. It has been proved that our platform's is usable and efficient. We introduced the function, data structure, user interface, system flow and a few specially appointed functions's about the software. |
