Research And Implementation Of Multimedia Technology's Applications In Smart Phones

With the development of computers, communications and electronics, mobile communications play a more important role in daily life. Especially with the 3G license's issuance in China, mobile phones are no longer just as a communication tool ,they should also be able to provide multimedia information, including audio, text, image, video and so on. At present, multimedia applications in smart phones mainly cover camera, MMS, CRBT, audio and video player, mobile games ,but are short in real-time multimedia data communications. With the improvement of the smart phones 'function and the universal of computer network , based on the Symbian Series 60 Platform, one of the most popular smart phone platforms, the project described in this thesis designed and implemented a real-time multimedia communication system. This system implemented files, audio and video communications through the WLAN network. With a high interactive and instantaneous communication means , it can be used in conference systems, scheduling, instant chat and so on , and has a good application prospects.This thesis firstly researched and analyzed the mobile phones' multimedia applications and the mainstream smart phones platforms currently. And then introduced the theory and technologies related to the system, including: Symbian OS features and basic knowledge, Series 60 application design framework, the main GUI project files in the Carbide.c++, and WLAN technology. After that the design of the system was introduced, including system architecture and original language for communication message. Then this paper described the Server's function, the main cross-flow between Clients and Server, and the main classes realized in Server. After that it introduced the design and realization of multimedia system in mobile phone terminal. It described the system architecture and communication flow charts, and then introduced the realization of UI module, document module, audio module, video module, and network communication module in detail. Finally ,the paper mentioned the system testing and summarized the work and next step.
