Invar rods are more precise than other leveling rods. So they are more important when we want to get a precise measurement result. It is one of the problems that must be solved for measurement sectors to check up the invar scales faster and more accurately. A testing system of invar rods is talked about in this paper. In the paper, a micro structure and optical system is designed. In combination with a double-frequency laser interferometer length measurement system, dynamic testing of stripe error of invar rods can be performed automatically. Also the use of image process is analyzed and the soft wares are compiled, including image collection and analysis software, function realization software, control software, data analysis software, print software and so on. The system is not only applied to invar rods, but also to linear rods. In the last, the errors are analyzed during testing an invar rod and a new method is established to compensate the Abbe error. Compared to the traditional testing method, a better result is gotten. So the system is fit for the measurement sectors to test the scales of invar rods and linear rods.
