802.1x Campus Network Authentication And Billing Management

As internet is getting more and more popular, the scale of school network is getting bigger and bigger, with a serial of complicated functions. Today, the school network has been much mature than before, but we can also find a lot of problems, such as the shortage of reasonable administrative mode and flexible accounting strategy, and the safety and stability problems of the network. Therefore, how to administrate and distribute all kinds of the resources in the school network has become a great challenge to the administrator of the school network.This research analyzes and compares the three popular authentication modes: PPPoE, DHCP + Web, 802.1x.It also introduces the 802.1x protocol in detail and analyzes the principle and the authentication mode of the protocol. This research gives a blue print of school network authentication, accounting and administration. Also, based on the given blue print, this research designs and achieves a management system.This system adopts "Radius+802.1x" structure to authenticate users. With a radius server which can gather data on real time, this research gives a flexible accounting strategy to get the cost of the users. With the help of Struts, which is based on J2EE structure, this research designs a accounting system and a user self-help system to comprehensively solve the problems of user authentication, user authorization, time computation, flow computation, cost computation and sum query in the application of the school network. There are three parts in this system, which are user authentication system, accounting system and administrative system.This research gives a new kind of authentication and accounting blue print of school network with Struts. This research devises an authentication and accounting system for school network, which is based on 802.1x protocol and includes identity authentication system, accounting system and administrative system.
