Drawing from my sorting out 522 pieces of headlines and comprehensive reading on 207 pieces of Politics In-Depth Reporting (abbr. PIDR) on The Southern Weekend, during the period from 1996 to 2005 (10 years), this thesis analyses the features of PIDR as discourse.My research aims to answer the question: what are the features and transitions of PIDR on The Southern Weekend as discourse. The thesis is based on the reality of PIDR's using history in China and the theory of the discourse analysis. I rely on an integral representation news discourse ------PIDR of The Southern Weekend-------which is a good specimen for my research.Looking into me text of PIDR on The Southern Weekend, I find that the proposition andideology constructions are the main parts of the news discourse construction. The thesis said mat, although PIDR's propositions have new constructions partly, they basically conform to the "Maro-rules" which is created by Van Dijk, a famous scholar in Netherlands; Furthermore, the macro-tactic, news report elements, writing mechanism, prototype construction are most four important contents of the ideology construction.Because of politic propaganda controlling, the newspaper reconstruction, the mass culture explosion, media competition, PIDR on The Southern Weekend has profound changed its news discourse during 10 years; Meanwhile, after 2002, The Southern Weekend redesigned its layout, PIDR also changed a lot. In the tread of analysis, thesis though mat PIDR on The Southern Weekend will have a discourse revolution by rational ideal and professional work, in order to adapt itself to the media developments.The article hoped to observe the changes happened in the media environment from the features and transitions of PIDR on The Southern Weekend as discourse.
