The Design, Based On The Tcp / Ip Protocol, The Remote Meter Reading System Host Computer

The reconstruction of home meters engineering and the development ofcity raise the consuming of home meters (water meter, watt-hour meter andgas meter) fast. The traditional home meters and manual meter reading cannot satisfy the new billing methods of stepwise-water-price andtime-separation-charging. In order to improve the management, it isnecessary to develop the Remote fee-collecting system. Along with the newcomputer and electronic technology, it is possible to design an economic,stable, reliable and accurate Remote fee-collecting system.Based on the need of application and technology, the technique of Remotefee-collecting system, using power line and TCP/IP network, is studied in thispaper. After introducing the characteristics of TCP/IP, the design for thewhole system and management software of upper-computer has been discussed.The Remote fee_collecting system is a four-layer structure ofmeter, sampler, collector and upper-computer. The part of managementsoftware,contains three modules: the control windows module,the networkcommunication module and the Access database module. Management software cancollect data automatically or manually,and transmit meters' addresses. Thefunction of the software is saving data, checking data, analyzingdata, recording system status, ect.The result of experiment indicates that the new designed managementsoftware works welt. It has accomplished the aims of anticipating. It canreplace the original management software completely.
