Source Decoder Of The Dvb-c Set-top Box Hardware Design Of The Main Section

With the development of Digital television technology and CATV Network's transmitting from TV to digital TV. Digital set-top box is becoming the pivotal terminal device. Through the SDTV Set-top box, we can receive standard definition digital TV program with analog TV and enjoy many value-added serves, such as browsing web. Set-top box could provide the condition access (CA) and interactive serves function.The purpose of the paper is to design and implement the hardware of source decoder control part of SDTV Set-top box. We chose ST's SDTV decoder solution with STi5518+STV0297.STi5518 is the center controller, supplied with DVB-C CHANNEL tuner, diversified memorizer (such as FLASH, SDRAM and EEPROM), an AUDIO DAC and interface drivers. Circuits of source decoder control system; Audio/Video processing and peripheral interface which contains a USB interface, a SMARTCARD interface, a RS232 interface, an S-Video and two CVBS video out interface and four channels of audio output interface are realized.I complete the hardware work on the source decoder control part, including design of the whole control system, emulating circuits of Audio/Video processing, realization function modules, protraction of schematic and PCB of the source decoder control part, evaluation of parts of the registers of STi5518, and debugging some parts of the control systerm.
