Design And Implementation Of Digital Television Source Decoder Based On Generic DSP

Today, to most people, TV is still the most familiar and favorite means forentertainment. In recent years, the TV system has gone through the analogblack-white TV to the analog colored TV. At present, the TV system has been changedfrom analog TV to digital TV. The huge digital TV market has brought the enormouspotential opportunity for the development of the digital TV equipment.In this paper, a new idea about realizing a completely programmable digital TVsource decoder based on generic DSP is presented. According to the capability of thecurrent generic DSP, the hardware system of digital TV source decoder based on thegeneric DSP--TMS320C6415, is described and realized. With the development ofDSP, the completely programmable solution of HDTV source decoder on single chipof generic DSP will be feasible.In the hardware system, the implementation of the transport stream input, videodisplaying and audio playing have been resolved. In addition, high-speed dataexchange between on-chip and off-chip memory has been realized successfully withhardware means. This system can also act as video-capturing and image-matchingsystem.In this paper, the key algorithm of the digital TV source decoder, audio decoding,has been researched and realized on the real-time operation system μ C /OS-II. Amulti-task real-time schedule strategy based on the operation system has beenprovided to schedule multi-task, such as audio decoding, video display, audio output,etc. In order to meet the performance requirement of source decoder, many methodshave been adopted to optimize the algorithm. The optimization for audio algorithmlaid a solid foundation for the video decoding in real time and the successfulrealization of SDTV source decoder.
