China's increasingly competitive city newspaper market enter into a "thick paper period". In this period, the newspaper competition is the page volume competition. At the beginning of the "thick paper period", the expansion of the newspaper attracted a large amount of advertisement.It meets the demand for investment well. And it was alsowelcomed by readers, so the market was very flourish. However, as the state's macro-economic policy changes and the emerging media develops rapidly, the city newspaper's advertising market shrank. Besides that, many problems owned by the city newspaper themselves are gradually exposed, "thick paper period" is in trouble. Today, the city newspaper must face the competition change from page to the core competitiveness.Now, I choose "the development trend of our country city newspaper's 'thick paper period'", as my paper title has more practical significance.Based on this background, I want to analyse why Chinese city newspaper's "thick paper period" was in trouble deeply and comprehensively. By draw on the experience from Western city newspaper's "thick paper period", I forecast the development trend of Chinese city newspaper's "thick paper period".Through selecting a great deal of information, using scientific research methods and with the help with my tutor, I basically achieved the anticipatory objective. Base on the existent view about this question, I try ro make a detailed analysis about the underlying reasons of the predicament of "thick paper period". I also make a boldforecast about the development trend of the "thick paper period". In my view, Chinese city newspaper market will face "shuffle the cards".And in the future there will be both "thick" and "thin" in one city newspaper makert.This is my innovation. In the final chapter of my paper, I emphasize the importance of enhancing the city newspaper's core competitiveness and how to do. I think this will help Chinese city newspaper to develop healthily and orderly.In the paper I mainly use three ways: First, literature, which is through collecting the view of other scholars and the progress of research on this issue, access to existing literature, so that I can learn from them.
