Distributed computing technology applied to radar signal processing proves such stability and reliability that the system of radar signal processing could be constructed time-saving with low cost and suit the radar system of pre-research stage in particular. On the foundation of well experimentation, real-time signal processing is on agenda. Considering the comprehensive application of DSP in radar signal processing, a system accelerator based on multiprocessor is suggested. This dissertation represents such tasks associated with project as follows:1. The application of distributed computing technology in radar signal processingis introduced and compared with multiprocessor card in respect of system performance only to expatiate upon the significance of such card.2. The functional modes of the card is categorized with specific explanations, followed with hardware design on power, system bus, bus bridge interface, DSP, CPLD and memory, etc.3. The structure of multiprocessor system is analyzed from the point of view of bus arbitration and LDF files. With separate SDRAM equipped to individual DSP, SuperSync FIFO used as input buffer and asynchronous DPRAM functioned as data-exchanging interface, this system structure is designed on four bus-shared ADSP-21161s. Link ports achieve the point-to-point communication between DSPs. Moreover, PCI and FPDP interfaces carry out data among this card and varieties of external devices.4. Collaborative testing is realized and supported with VC and DSP programs in the hint of debugging thought. With varieties of data as input and output anticipated by MATLAB simulation, such card is validated.5. System performance is assessed on both data throughput and process capacity. The conclusion is that it is only needed to transplant appropriate algorithm or/and to cooperate with data acquisition card in order to satisfy the different requirements of radar signal processing.
