With the rapid development of electronics and communication technologies, the traditional media of newspapers encountered unprecedented challenges imposed by emerging new media.The pessimistic tone is occurring in the media industry. Some people even assert that the newspapers will have no future. Accompanied by the significant decline in the traditional media business performance, new media has shown great vitality and vigor, and have accomplished a lot. According to the statistics, in 2006, the network advertising market will reach to 40 billion. And according to incomplete statistics, at present, the new media is involved in some dozens of categories, such as digital television, mobile television, network television, buildings screen, and mobile multimedia, broadcast passengers, search engines, etc. The rising of these new media industry makes more people believe that the newspaper's falling into a vulnerable position.Will the rise of new media predict the turning point of traditional media? Or new media and new markets mean the original newspapers reshuffle? Through the study of domestic newspapers' characteristic in edition, interview and design, the author attempts to study the impact of new media and to find the signs of papers' declination. The researcher, therefore, tries to come to the conclusion the newspapers should go through its own reform to ensure its survival and development.The thesis contains three primary points:First, an accurate identification of the current rise of the new media should be formed. Besides, the enormous challenges imposed on the newspapers should be faced objectively.
