With the emerging of the mobile Internet, Internet, and other newmedia, the traditional financial media was facing a great challenge. Thereaders of newspapers were dropping dramatically as well as the amountof advertisement’ income. Upon the impacts of outside environmentalchange, industry development, and the emerging new media, thetraditional domestic financial media’s living conditions are not optimisticwith diverse difficulties.The dissertation focuses on China Business News’s strategy ondigital transition, including building up news agency, social networking,microblog, and iPad version. With in-depth interviews and comparativeanalysis, the dissertation explores the problems existing in the digitaltransition process. Meanwhile, the dissertation compares the digitaltransition of some main domestic and international financial newspaperssuch as21st Century Economic Report, Economic Observer, Wall Street Journal, and Financial Times. By analyzing current phenomena,concluding the regular pattern, characteristics, and trend, the dissertationattempts to propose possible solutions.These solutions include a continual in-depth reporting, astrengthened combination for reporters with editors, an increase ofjournalist resources, and an increase of mobile internet contents, etc. Thefinancial media’ digital transition was started only a short time ago andstill needs more exploration and modification. Should financial mediacreate more attractive products, conquer the difficulties, and get a betterunderstanding on Internet users’ preferences and needs, there would be abright future for financial media’s digital transition. |
