The core of this paper is introduced the design method about the 20W high power amplifier (HPA) at Ku band. The overall amplifier circuit employs three stages as follow: gain-stage, driver-stage and power amplifier-stage. To begin with, in the end stage of the whole power amplifier circuit, this article emphasized the design process of the power combining and dividing network. Furthermore, the author compares with other traditional methods and innovational selects the Lange coupler to realize the above mentioned network. In the end, by means of the excellent CAD software-Serenade, simulates and optimizes the entire power amplifier circuit and the above mentioned network. In conclusion, analysis of the simulation results satisfied all requirements, at the same time, these results verified the feasibility and reliability of the design conception, evidently.For the sake of the highly output power, the elimination of heat plays an important roll of the HPA. In order to solve this stubborn problem, some schemes of the radiating model are investigated, researched and ultimately presented. In addition, the installment of the chip in each stage of the circuit is illustrated, simply.
