Because of the resonance of the oxygen molecules,the V-band is greatly attenuated in the air.This feature makes the V-band widely used in satellite communication and ground short-distance communication.However,due to the high frequency of the V-band,the chip size is smaller,the heat is more concentrated,and the dissipation of heat becomes more difficult.As a result,the output power of a single solid-state device is low,and it is difficult to meet the requirement of large-distance range.In order to meet the requirement of output power,power combination is the most effective way.This thesis has conducted experiments and explorations on V-band power combination technology.The main results of this thesis are:1.The power combination unit was explored.Specific analysis and simulations were performed for the dual-probe structure of waveguide-microstrip,E-plane waveguide coupled bridge,H-plane cracked bridge,rat-race,and magic T.And this thesis has analyzed their advantages and disadvantages,the scope of application.We have made a physical processing and testing for the rat-race,magic T.It has laid the foundation for the power combination network.2.According to the indicator and existing optional chip,the 8 ways power combination amplifier are defined,which are roughly divided into four parts: driver amplifier,power distribution network,unit power amplifier,and power combination network.Both the driver amplifier and unit power amplifier use GAPZ0039.In the latter part,the power combination network was explored.We have make theoretical and simulation analysis for the 8 ways combination network based on magic T,the 4 ways chain combination network based on E-plane waveguide coupler,and the 8 ways combination network based on rat-race were separately performed.After comparing their advantages,disadvantages and feasibility,eventually we decided to use the 8 ways combination network based on rat-race as the power combination network.3.After deciding to use the 8 ways combination network based on rat-race as the power combination network,we processed and tested it.In the frequency range of 66GHz-68 GHz,the return loss of the back-to-back structure was suppressed below-15 dB.The insertion loss is also suppressed within 2.8dB,the insertion loss of the 8 ways combination network is less than 1.4d B,and the overall size is small and the performance is excellent,which is suitable as the combination network of the power combination amplifier.4.The test of the gain and power of single power amplifier and power combination amplifier has been completed.In the frequency range of 66GHz-68 GHz,the small-signal gain of single power amplifier is in the range of 14.1d B-15.2dB.When the maximum power of the signal source is input,the power amplifier gets the power of about 9dBm,and the output power is between 21.7dBm-23 d Bm.In the frequency range of 66GHz-68 GHz,small signal gain of power combination amplifier is in the range of 26.7dB-27.6d B.When the maximum power of the signal source is input,the corresponding output power is in the range of 31.1dBm-32.2d Bm.The combination efficiency of the power combination amplifier is calculated,and its combination efficiency is about 80% in the frequency range of 66GHz-68 GHz.5.The corresponding study was conducted on large-scale and high-power combination in the V-band.After making the simulation analysis of the traditional radial power combination network based on circular waveguide TE01 mode,we have found its shortcomings,which the peaks appear in the output band.We analyzed the emergence of this phenomenon and obtained corresponding conclusions.Finally,it gets verified.We propose an improved radial waveguide power combination network,which discards the part of the circular waveguide in the traditional power combination network,uses 1-N to form the TEM mode in the radial waveguide,and then divide into any ways by radial waveguide.Compared with the traditional radial power combination network based on circular waveguide TE01 mode,it completely eliminates the peak in output band and improves the consistency of output amplitude and phase.In addition,it has the advantages of high combination efficiency,any output ways,and compact structure.
