Public journalism was a very influential news reform around the 1990s, and great theory and practice research about public journalism were in progress in journalistic circles. As a new news idea, public journalism was introduced into China several years ago. Studies about public journalism appeared in all kinds of media after public journalism emerged in the news column of 1860xinwenyan on Jiangsu TV.About the question what is public journalism, there isn't relatively authoritative conclusion. We can't withdraw theory study about public journalism only by lacking exact explanation. In fact, Public journalism is a relatively important way of news report, at the beginning of it's coming into being, its practices make partial American media have a new look in a certain extent.Public journalism has characteristic of news and commonality. Firstly, media know those questions that the publics care very much though all kinds of ways, and media evolve research of questions, at the same time, the public may attach hemselves to talk about, and they speak their opinion. And it reports not only ews fact but also the intrinsic factor hiding news fact.Public journalism's practice just starts in our country. At present, public journalism is short of in media in our country, furthermore, its scale is very short, and therefore study of public journalism is essential.The thesis starts from public journalism's coming into being, firstly, the thesis discusses its different expression and reports happened in media; secondly, the thesis analyses its theories and questions concerned;thirdly,the thesis told its practice in China; finally, the thesis discusses the future as seen in its imagination.The major methodologies used in the thesis include comparative analysis, case-study, synthesis.
