Small and mid-range businesses(SMB) are of great importance to the economic development in China. However, the information systems they rely on are still in the infancy stage. The market needs a cost efficiency SMB oriented EPR solution with adequate performance because SMB can not survive long term investment.The discussion begin with the basic inbound, outbound and inventory activities integrated with the finance core. After the requirement analysis of the current SMB businesses, this thesis introduces the procedure of Object Oriented Analysis and Design(OOAD) while designing the ERP system suitable for traditional SMB. Then the OOAD approach starts from the purchasing management requirement. The ERP software requirement, analysis and design are followed. The purchasing and inventory management business scenarios are used to describe how to analyze and design a tightly integrated ERP system using OOAD method. The estimated output is a low-cost, high-efficient business system.With RUP knowledge, the thesis uses UML for software requirement, analysis and design processes.In addition to the complexity nature of the EPR system, special characteristics of OOAD method results in the testing difficulty. How to test the relationships and interactions among the objects in the system should be focused on besides the business scenario based integration test in the future.
