Nowadays, the software development is more and more complex. The software requirements is doubling and changing quickly, the software function is advancing fast, but the period for developing software is reducing more. How to get good quality software in time and on budget, is a big problem faced by many software organizations. Owning a good software develop process is more important than producing a good software product.The topic of this thesis aims to getting a good software development process cooperated by many roles in a team. This process can integrates the analysis and design activities orderly to reduce development cycle and increase the quality of software and enhance the transparent of management. If we are directed by Rational Unified Process, use Unified Modeling language, and practice the method of Object-Oriented, we can get the desirable software product.Software development is sophisticated. Getting a good product needs professional technicians & good technique & good process. The three bases of software engineering are methods & tools & process. Methods mean "How to do", Tools mean the convenient tool using methods, process means managing all the activities of developing software. The emphasis of this thesis is the process.From the experience of developing software, this thesis describes the disadvantage of former software engineering and the advantage of the current software engineering. Then, the Object-Oriented method and Unified Modeling Language are introduced. Followed by, an actual modeling example for Expressway Toll Fee System is introduced, elaborates in which order to finish the five tasks of analyzing and designing the system. Finally the benefits of using the core rules of RUP are showed up.The core rules of RUP are: Driven by Use Case, Architecture-Based Approach and Taking An Iterative. The basis of carrying out the core rules of RUP is Object-Oriented. The Object-Oriented is complex. The emphasis of this thesis is Object-Oriented analysis and design. The final results are How to arrange all kinds of activity to fulfill analysis and design tasks & forming a design model for the Expressway Toll Fee System.
