The design of a large scale TFT-LCD source driver is introduced in the paper.With the coming of the information times, the display technology of information has become more and more important. And liquid crystal display (LCD) has become the mainstream of the flat display productions because of its flatness, portability, and no-pollution. So, it is of great practical value to research and design the LCD electrical module, which are used to control and drive LCDs.The TFT-LCD source driver introduced in the paper is designed referring to IC upd16634A which is a product of NEC company. It's capable of dealing with displays of 64 gray scales, so it can realize a full-color display of 260,000 colors. Data input is based on digital input configured as 6 bits by 6 dots (2 pixels). Because the output dynamic range is as large as Vss+O.1V to Vdd-0.1V, level inversion operation of the LCD's common electrode is rendered unnecessary. Also, to be able to deal with dot-line inversion, this source driver's odd output pins and even output pins respectively output gray scale voltages of differing polarity. When driving at 3.0V, it assures a maximum clock frequency of 40 MHz.The chip has been manufactured using a 0.6 um CMOS mix-signal technology (double well, double poly, double metal). And the tests have also been accomplished.
