Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) plays a very important role in China's Modernization Process. As one of the most flexible monitoring methods, systems based on image and video detection technologies keep getting increasing attention from people.This thesis will introduce the design and debug process of one image collection and processing system. The first chapter will briefly describe the significance of ITS and the most commonly used approaches of obtaining traffic information. At the end of this chapter the expected performance of the system is given. The second chapter will explain the overall design of the whole system, the modular division method and the core chip selecting process. The third chapter will introduce the schematic and PCB design of sub-modules. After describing the system hardware structure, Chapter four will give a detailed presentation covering the chip configuration and software programming based on the debugging experience. The final chapter of the thesis will conclude our achievements till now and make some suggestions about the future work.
