This paper, taking the characteristics of blind men into consideration and based on DSP, focuses on the research and design of the identifying system for blind men to recognize targets. This system has visual functions, which can help blind men to identify the objects in his surroundings, provide vocal messages and bring them great convenience for their daily life.The aim of the system to make the system serve the function of real-time collecting and processing signals and the general design meet the practical needs. To reach the aim, this paper based on the deep study on DSP and FPGA chips, designs the general plan according to "DSP+FPGA" project, based on the high-speed DSP chip processor and integrating FPGA as the core, taking use of the means of DMA, the real-time processing of target signals is realized and by means of I~2C general cable, communications are realized through McBSP and video frequency-collecting transformer. Furthermore, and it fulfills the hardware design of the identifying system for blind men to recognize targets. Moreover, the system based FPGA controller serving the time-order logical controlling functions, converting the dynamic image processing into static image processing, which simplifies the multifarious dynamic and continual image processing into real-time and static image processing, and greatly improves the speed of real-time image processing and the general functions of the system, such technologies studied in order to guarantee the practicality and effectiveness of the system. By using the HPI hardware interfere provided by DSP processor and sound modules driven by software, the designed functions are realized, provide vocal messages working, the designed functions are realized. Now, It has accomplished four tasks:1.According as the system require and technology guide line, designs the general plan according to method and step of system designing, it make certain the designing idea of modularization of from above to below;2.In the light of the designing idea of modularization of from above to below, based on the designing idea of modularization of hardware as the core, it fulfills the six hardware modularize design of the identifying system of image gathering, DSP processor, FPGA control, vocal messages working, analog circuit and assistantcircuit of DSP periphery, Furthermore, such technologies as miniaturization, low power consumption, low cost, anti-jamming and portable are also studied;3.1n allusion to hardware design of the identifying system blind men to recognize targets, combining to integration development environment of DSP chip, it fulfills the software framework design of the identifying system as a whole;4. Via researching and designing of hardware circuit, summarizing the designing methods of modularization of from above to below base on the deep study on DSP chips for the real-time image processing system.Although designing of the system for helping the blind to identify target, but the study of this system had supplied reference for the studying of the accurate control technology. With the improvement of the target identifying technology and computation, target identifying ways and varieties must be increased in a rapid speed and the system must tend to be perfect in future, it will enjoy an unceasing extend application and can also provide important function for the technologies in such fields as controlling, commanding, monitoring, reconnoitering and information in military affairs.
