Traditional counting in firing practice is made by manpower, and it has some defects in efficiency, safety, etc. The Automatic Target-scoring System can avoid these defects mentioned above; what's more, it can implement fast and precise counting. The research on Auto-counting system in shooting will make great progress in the modernization of training for the army.This paper is devoted to the research on automatic target-scoring system for military shooting exercises,which is one of the applications of digital image processing. This thesis take the Chest silhouette as studying object, aiming at the characteristics and demands of battle training of the army ,detail each selected methods of image processing and image recognition in the military Automatic Target-scoring System . In addition, the results of all algorithms that MATLAB imitated come to the army's need. The work flow of this Auto- counting system can be composed of these phases:Acquiring Rectification Coefficient : To Automatic Target-scoring System, once the pickup camera is fixed, each picture has the same degree of distortion. It establish the formula between beginning target and standard target in the system before shooting and then acquire rectification coefficient which would be used to rectify each target image.The paper adopted cubic multinomial rectification technology which not only can correct optical lens's distortion but also has good rectification results for perspective and incline distortion.Image Pre-processing: Its goal is to improve image quality and make preparation for Bullet-spot's Recognition. The main method includes Median Filter, Image Subtraction, Maximum of interc1ass variances, morphological filter, etc. Image Subtraction is the kernel in the technologies used in this dissertation and key to reduce Bullet-spot's Segmentation algorithm.Morphological filter has the functions of clearing up obstruction and restoring Bullet-spot's shapeBullet-spot's Recognition and Scoring: Bullet-spot's Recognition mainly adopts Euclidian distance distinguishable standard and Moment invariants method, which has simple algorithm and quicker speed than traditional template matching. This method can accord with the demand of time and precision. In order to scoring , it first to obtain bull's-eye and wreath line's radius ,then to establishes corresponding region of each point ring and last to score by comparing bullet-spot heart's place with all the regions.In addition, this system also can be used to round target scoring if be modified slightly.
