This paper introduces a CCD data acquisition system based on USB2.0 specification and describes the two parts of the system separately including the part of signal acquisition and analog-digital conversion and the part of USB interface. It emphasizes on the principle outlines, design difficulties, circuits and programs. And it reports the testing results of the whole system. The components adopted in the system mainly include Cy7c68013 of FX2 series manufactured by Cypress Semiconductor, AD7472 of Analog Device Inc. and linear CCD of NEC. We use the control logics of the GPIF (General Programmable Interface), collect the high-speed data by bulk transfers and store the collected data in the hard disk. The system design takes full advantage of the current IC resources. It controls the timings of CCD and AD7472 efficiently by using GPIF, and reads the data into the given buffer, so that we can design the whole system without FIFOs and CPLDs which are indispensable to the normal solutions. In this paper, we introduce a new economical solution which saves the development cost, reduces the system size and benefits the product development.Through this project, we complete the design and experiments of the CCD data acquisition system based on USB2.0 specification, analyze the timing of important control logics, test the efficient system transfer speed and obtain certain research results.
