As infrared image is easily distorted by non-uniformity and components inconstancy ofinfrared FPA, it is very important to real-timely acquire raw infrared image data for furtherstudy; image enhancement algorithms therefore, can be much more precise and efficientbased on the reliable data. To meet the demands of high speed data acquisition, a high speeddata acquisition system based on USB2.0was presented in this paper.The proposed system is designed by utilizing the novel SLAVE FIFO operation mode ofCY7C68013, and reliable high speed infrared image data acquisition is realized by usingbulk transfer mode. According to the USB protocols, infrared image data transfer mode andthe transfer error control, the whole system is constructed. The hardware circuit is designedwith the CY7C68013-56chip; FPGA configuration circuit and interface circuit of theE2PROM chip are also designed, they are all integrated with the main circuit. The softwarepart of the system includes the USB firmware design and the PC control software design aswell; the software part is well optimized so that data transfer rate get to the maximum.Extreme test of the proposed system showed that data transfer rate could be as high as40Mbytes/s, which is higher than most of the current USB based data acquisition systems.Moreover, raw infrared image data with resolution of384*288was also acquired by usingthe system with the infrared imaging system, and further study was carried out based on theacquired data. Therefore, the proposed USB2.0based high speed data acquisition system canprovide high speed and high accuracy data acquisition, the system is highly applicable.
