Since the 1990s, ERP, as a carrier of advanced managing thought and managing model, has been accepted, adopted and put into use in enterprises and has provided various business solutions while developing, such as FOURTH SHIFT from SoftBrands Inc., America, Navision, Axapta and some new version packs based on. NET framework from Microsoft Co., NetWeaver from SAP AG., Germany, and also ERP software from UFIDA Software Co. Ltd, Kingdee International Software Group. at home. Actually ERP was developed on the basis of MRPII and oriented to supply management, and aimed at manufacturing-related enterprises. Probably in most enterprises, implementation ERP, which is confronted with challenges and risks, is not as easy as just simply making a decision to buy it. As a matter of fact, some enterprises founds that they invested lots on ERP but benefit little from it. This is especially the case in these corporations which orients to engineering projects, hardware and software integration projects, manufacturing non-standard pieces and manufacturing without batch process, for it is more complicated and difficult to implement ERP in these enterprises. In contrast, some enterprises run ERP successfully and benefit much from it. The keys of these enterprises to success are philosophical, understanding business process well first, optimizing and reengineering process next, running ERP and auto operation at last. Behind these simple appearances of implementation steps is the very important concept - BPR, discussed most in recent years when implementing ERP. Taking advantage of IT technology based on business process, an enterprise should reconsider and re-planning its business process thoroughly, construct a brand-new origination structure to meet the customer's needs, reduce running cost, and improve quality of products, quality of services and respond speed. That's the soul of BPR. BPR is an idea of management which focuses on finding the overall best solution to optimize the business process, while ERP is a technology which focuses on the implementation of managing resource of an enterprise in an efficient way based on the reasonable business process. BPR and ERP rely on each other to aim at the two above targets; only by combing the two ones tightly can they make future success.According to the basic concept and principal of ERP and BPR, the paper analyses the structure of task oriented enterprises, the specialties and regularity in related management and business process reengineering. By comparing and relating the ERP and BPR, the paper draws to the following conclusion. The implementing of ERP, based on business operating process of task oriented enterprise, should begin with the organization structure recombination and business process reengineering, and plan them creatively. Meanwhile, in accordance with the developing status and environment, an enterprise should adjust its managing model, organization structure, business process in an adaptive way. An enterprise should build up structure model, functional model, process model in the rapidest, fittest and familiar way for the survival and development in the unpredictable and rapid changeable market competition nowadays. From this point, the paper explores the principal, method, steps and judgment of success for the ERP implementation in task oriented enterprises, and finds out the fit joint between standardization and individuation in software designation via separating business logic and developing technique in layer design of software. And the software of task oriented ERP can lay three layers which are, OS layer that builds up the platform of interaction of hardware and software, technical platform layer (e.g. Database, Middleware, etc.) which supports the complicated application and is built on the foundational OS layer, and application platform layer. The paper also takes the example of actual case to describe the overall function design, database design, system architecture design and some detailed design of task oriented ERP, and provides some helpful points in developing related ERP.
