AbstractThis thesis presents the requirement of rapid reconfiguration under the background of existing information systems for aeronautical manufacturers, which are confronted with various challenges and key requirements. Driven by the requirements stated above, and according to the up-to-date technologies and research innovations in the communities of software engineering and information systems, the author proposes the notion of RRIS (rapidly reconfigurable information system) and discusses the connotation of it. Then, the architecture of RRIS, which is a hierarchical structure and consists of five layers interacting each other, is also provided. Based on the architecture, each layer role and responsibilities, communications between five layers, reconfiguration types and hierarchies, main characteristics, and key technologies are also identified and explored in the paper respectively.Information systems must be able to be reconfigured rapidly to respond to the changes in business domain which is supported by itself automatically because the changes in business domain, which are incurred by BPR and include the changes of business processes, business rules and organizational structure, are one of the main sources of rapid reconfiguration requirements. Through delicate combination of use case model and business process model, the changes in business domain can be mapped onto or transferred to 00 analysis and design of information systems smoothly, which enables the rapid reconfiguration on analysis level. As to the design of RRIS, based on the detailed discussion of relationship among the design patterns, frameworks and RRJS, the roles of design patterns and 00 enterprise application frameworks in design and reconfiguration of RRIS, and the reasons why they exist as key technologies of RRIS are also addressed. In addition, due to the special role of enterprise application frameworks in RRIS, hot-spot driven approach to the framework design is introduced, complemented and extended by SCV analysis, hook methods and template methods, and relationship between design patterns and hot-spot or hot-spot subsystems. In the end, implementation mechanisms for the rapid reconfiguration of RRJS are examined and a RRJS prototype instance for a local business domain of typical enterprise information system (such as ERP/MRPII), is also exhibited. During discussion of the prototype, the constructing procedures of RRIS are given and explained and analysis and design results are also demonstrated through a series of diagrams and descriptions. After the discussion of implementation problems the paper shows how the solution supports the rapid reconfiguration by a few concrete instances of reconfiguration.
