The linear frequency modulation continuous wave (LFCMW) radar is a kind of high range resolution radar and it has great potential applications in accurate control and guide weapons because of its advantages including high range measurement precision, no range blind of area, low peak power, et al. This thesis mainly discusses several aspects of a LFMCW millimeter wave seeker prototype system and its main works are as follows.Firstly, we analyze the LFMCW waveform in detail. Two kinds of typical LFMCW signal, i.e. the single slope LFMCW signal and symmetrical triangular LFMCW signal, are be analyzed and their ambiguity function are calculated and discussed.Secondly, the signal processing techniques of LFWCW radar based on Discrete Fourier Transform algorithm is investigated. Main works are as follows: the basic principle of LFMCW seeker range high resolution is introduced and three typical techniques to improve range measurement precision are analyzed. The effect of target radial velocity on LFMCW high resolution range profile is discussed and two range profile compensation algorithms are introduced and their performances are analyzed. The angular measurement algorithm in taper scan system is investigated and the target track algorithm using constant gain α -β filter is analyzed. One LFMCW millimeter wave seeker prototype system is designed and implemented. In this system, the general digital signal processor, i.e. TMS320C6701, and the field-programmable-gate-array (FPGA) are used as hardcore and thus this system is a general and flexible system.
