High-resolution radar, in particular, the linear frequency modulation continuous wave(LFCMW) radar has great potential applications in accurate control and guide weaponsbecause of its advantages including high range measurement precision, no range blind ofarea, low peak power, et al. This thesis mainly discussed the arithmetic of signalprocessing in a LFMCW millimeter wave radar system and its main works are as follows:Firstly, the structure and working principle of LFMCW radar system were introduced,then one kind of typical LFMCW signal, i.e. the symmetrical triangular LFMCW echosignal, was analyzed and its form and characteristics were calculated and discussed.Secondly, the imaging principle and method of high-resolution radar range profile(HRRP) about LFMCW radar were discussed, detailed analysis of the relevantcharacteristics of the HRRP were analyzed in detail and the methods of pretreatment wereproposed. The effect of target radial velocity on LFMCW high resolution range profile wasdiscussed and range profile compensation algorithm was introduced.Finally, the principle of HRRP feature extraction and selection methods were discussed,and several main methods of feature extraction and classification in radar targetrecognition were introduced. On the base of simulation analysis of the radar HRRPcharacteristics in the projects and experiments, feasible algorithms of feature extractionand classification in LFMCW radar target identification system of which principle wereelaborated on and simulated were proposed as a project for the design.
