The technology of machine condition monitoring is a method which analyses and processes the data from the performing machine. This technology combines together the computer science, test technology, signal analyzing and data processing technology etc. At present, there are a series of portable machine condition monitoring systems in domestic and international market, these systems exist some shortages, the disadvantage limited it uses in the field of industry enterprise.This paper based on this present condition exactly. By cooperating withResearch Institute of Vibration Engineering Zhengzhou University, the papercombined advanced ARM architecture and embedded Linux operating system intothe testing and diagnosing techniques, it analyzed and investigated thedesign and implementing steps of machine condition monitoring system. Thepaper carefully researched the pivotal techniques, finally, it developed onekind of machine condition monitoring system with stronger function and lowercost. The whole monitoring system was divided into two parts: anterior partand backstage part. The anterior part was used to collect data and simplyanalyze the data. The backstage part provided mighty ability of dataprocessing, it was used to do more analyzing and processing works. Theengineering practices proved that the system could effectively realize thefunction of machine condition monitoring by combining the anterior part withthe backstage part, and it had obvious practicability and the value ofengineering applications.The paper did detailed research in below several aspects: (1). It designed the key hardware mold of anterior system, which included the selection of ARM, every kind of hardware chips and the collectivity design of hardware system etc.; (2). The paper chose, customized and adjusted the software platform: embedded Linux operating system. According to the actual request of the system, the paper chose software platform, which is adapted to the ARM processor. In addition, it transplanted and adjusted the operating system according to the ARM chip; (3). The paper designed the graphical user interface (GUI), including the design of main interface and each function mold piece interface; (4). The paper realized the software functions of system.According to function request and targets of the system, the paper implemented the software design , such as the signal collecting, data processing, data management and so on. 5.
