Dunhuang manuscript Zi Bao was discovered in the Cang Jing hole of Dunhuang Mogao hole at the beginning of twenty century .This book has not been recorded by any Chinese historic book. a Japanese monk whose name is YuanRen wrote a book Ru Tang Xin Qiu Sheng Jiao Mu Lu, this book recorded a kind of book named Sui Jin a volume. It's probably that Sui Jin is Zi Bao. The preface of manuscript Zi Bao said "name it Zi Bao, just like gold crumbs, it cann't do a large work, but when we want to write something, its value can beyond the gold, so I call it Sui Jin."Some manuscripts of Zi Bao have four poems Eulogy Of Sui Jin written by Shen Shi Lang, Bai Shi Lang and Li Bu Shi Lang Wang Jian. From the poems we can draw a conclusion that we can call the manuscripts Zi Bao or Sui Jin.Mr Zhang Yong Quan said that Sui Jin just is the informal name of this book, Zi Bao is the formal name. We can know from the preface of manuscript Zi Bao, it's content is the character which is used by our daily life. So it has large value in lexicology and phonology,and it's the indispensable reference material to read literay woks of Tang dynasty. The preface also said, the auther of Zi Bao has cited such books as Zi Tong, Han Yuan,Yu Pian, Qie Yun, most of these books are lost.so Zi Bao can help us to study these books.Predecessors have recorded and collated this book, but no one interpreted it wholely, my thesis is on the basis of careful collation, also consult some achievement of predecessors, interprete this book wholely.I hope my thesis is useful for the study of ancient Chinese.
