The Items Of Historical Books Quoted In The Dunhuang Manuscript Encyclopedias

The Dunhuang Manuscript Encyclopedias have quoted a large number of historical records.These citations,which are used as the body or the annotation in two lines,cover a multitude of mistakes.Meanwhile,the records are not only messy,but also scattered.Whereas the defects cannot obscure the virtues, the citations are of great academic significance in collating and compiling,so they can be used as the extension of the study on Dunhuang Manuscript historical materials.This thesis,gathering and sorting out the historical items from the Dunhuang Manuscript Encyclopedias comprehensively,aimed at the research from three parts.The first part enumerated the items of descendant historical books quoted in Dunhuang Manuscript Encyclopedias,excluded the incorrect texts from collation,and analyzed the characteristics of these quotes.The second part, which was based on the items of lost historical books existed in Dunhuang Manuscript Encyclopedias and the lasted achievements about compiling,collected the pieces from lost historical books to promote the work of saving books.The third part discussed the causes of the variant readings between modern copy and Dunhuang Manuscript Encyclopedias,took advantage of these variant readings to collate the version published by Zhonghua Book Company.
