Radar system needs radar range and range resolution as excellent as possible when detecting target. Pulse compression (PC) radar has been widely used in practice because of its far radar range and good range resolution. the rapid development of circuit technology which since 1970s has provided digital radar signal processing the essential support . This dissertation mainly completed the research of a real time PC system, this project comes from the signal processing system of a radar. The article introduces the relative theory of LFM signal, principle of matched filtering, respective advantages of time field pulse compression and frequency field pulse compression, the reason of range side-lobe and its solution, and the technology of pulse compression based on range partition. This PC system consisted of sampling part and PC part. In sampling part, it used ADI's AD10465 which could work with high speed and has two matched input channel in it, and used Altera's EP1K100QC208-2 to receive the sampled data. In PC part, it used several ADSP21160M to realize pulse compression of LFM signal. Based on the request of the PC system, this thesis demonstrates the hardware and software structures generally, and presents some details in processing practice. By completing software programs, radar's LFM signal has been successfully sampled and compressed, and the results have been transmitted properly too. At last, there are some testing results of the PC system.
