With the rapid development of information technology, embedded technology has already widely been applied to scientific research, industrial control, military technology etc. in the field , It has become the major power of post-PC age. At the same time, As the status in people's life of the network improves day by day. The embedded system which supports network is needed in more application. So the interlink and interoperation of different embedded equipments, such as industry equipments, military control, information household electrical appliances and personal mobile electronic equipments ,are the trend of development in the future.The project presented a communication middleware named XCOM which is based on the middleware design idea. XCOM can realize the interlink between different communication equipments based on embedded technology. It can also satisfy the special requirements such as interlink, communication, inter-operation and universal application in the information terminal of navigation system and the information terminal of well-logging system.Based on the analysis of embedded system and middleware technology, this paper gave the design principles, system structure and layered design of communication middleware XCOM. And it particularly described the designs of XCOM driver story of the Ethernet interface on the basis of MAC's frame data transmission of ground floor and the network communication on the basis of TCP/IP agreement one. Tested through using two designs of one the communication middleware -Design on the basis of PC machine of Windows and the embedded equipment of Nucleus and maintain application on the basis of the navigation data of XCOM, Analysing and conclusion has appeared at last.
